A Nicer Goodbye

Letting go of what we don’t need can help us create space for what brings us enjoyment. Plus, sometimes it just feels good. It’s important to do so responsibly.
We’d recommend first looking to friends who might be able to use what you won’t. For the next best things, use the links below to give your items a second life.

Donate

Charities will take all sorts of items—books, household goods, kitchenwares, electronics, clothes and linens. Some charities also accept items in poor condition for recycling, so even your worn clothing may eligible for collection.

Goodwill

Recycle

Items that are too worn to reuse or donate can be recycled, so before you throw anything away, see what can and can’t be recycled.
